With petrol many of the supermarkets– IGA, Woolies- offer a 4c a litre discount if you take in one of their dockets.
Trouble is you are already paying more for groceries at these stores. I’ve done a comparison – Woolworths “specials” are often still more expensive than other stores.
If you prove your a local at a non docket service station you may still get 4c off per litre.
Re Federal government rebate on insurance of around 33% I queried this with Aus Seniors insurance who we insure with and they had no idea what I was talking about ??? Advice please !!!
Hi Roger, thank you for seeking clarity! The insurance rebate we mentioned is in regards to private health insurance, you can read more about it HERE. Our apologies for not being clearer but we will re-word the article moving forward so thank you.
Aus Seniors Insurance is one of the most expensive , I shopped around for myself and my neighbors etc as requested and everyone got a cheaper price elsewhere. My neighbors thought they were being looked after having Aus Seniors Insurance but it is so expensive as they found out.
Got quotes from three others. One cheaper by 80 bucks but BD 400 bucks dearer. As an ex-management accountant I know the devil is in the detail but for 80 bucks I stayed as is !! They are all having a lend of us as most of us cannot afford to carry the risk and they know it !!!!
In my experience the FREE NSW Fuel Check app trumps every supermarket petrol discount docket, even after the docket’s alleged discount is applied.
What is the situation with the rebate retirees. I do not lodge a tax return now that I retired. My private health insurer was not clear on their answer on rebates.
Hi John, thanks for getting involved in the conversation! We have found that the government’s own private health WEBSITE is a great source of clarity and even has a rebate calculator you can use.
You can buy Woolworths wish cards through RACV at a 3-4%. Now, with higher petrol prices, this effectively reduces your petrol by another 6-8c/litre
