I received $1 from Centrelink as a bereavement payment. To me that was an insult! Apparently they thought I didn’t need help because we had a funeral plan. And yes my pension went down so not only do I not have my husband but I now have to struggle more.
As a retired Funeral Director/ Consultant of 25 years experience I can only applaud your advice regarding giving yourself time to adjust and making a proper Will. Sometimes it can be a year before we are truly able to think straight – every anniversary which pops up through thst first 12 months can make us stop in our tracks when we remember the last time…
Like not signing documents when you are under stress it is sensible not to make large changes in your life like moving home or disposing of major items in your life before the first anniversary, if at all possible.
thankyou for the info I’m on the aged pension. when someone you are related to you has passed away like family members , I have only found about their death by a fifth party
up to two years after. I have tried to find out where they we burried on my heritage nothing comes up, I have not been in contact with family members for forty years.
